Yom Hashoah
Sonoma County Yom Hashoah Commemoration is an annual event that centers around a solemn promise from the past, to the future. To the future, we honor and pass forward Jewish values from generation to generation. This is known as L'Dor V'Dor.
To “Remember One" is to "Remember All”
This year’s theme centers on the Jewish notion that
to “Remember One" is to "Remember All”
The program will feature a candle lighting ceremony to honor, and bless the memory of all those who have come before us. Especially those who have perished, and those who have suffered physically and emotionally from the Holocaust, as well as their living local descendants. Attendees will participate in lighting “Candles of Hope” for all the other genocides that have, and still are, taking place among other nations. There will be music and song, poetry and prayer and spoken words.
Yom Hashoah is a time when we come together from all corners of our diverse Sonoma County community to remember. After the event there will be snacks and refreshments and an opportunity to meet and greet one another.
